Design Process
A Spring 2026 student project allowed me to create a curriculum support platform designed for the preschool at my church, Summit Preschool. The goal of the project was to create a more organized, efficient, and visually engaging system for preschool teachers to manage lesson planning, weekly themes, classroom activities, and faith-based learning integration. Through interviews and conversations with the preschool director and teachers, I identified key workflow challenges and designed a solution tailored to their real classroom needs. The final platform focuses on simplifying curriculum organization while creating a calm, approachable, and teacher-friendly digital experience.
The project began with user research and discovery, where I interviewed preschool staff to better understand their current curriculum planning process, pain points, and daily workflows. From there, I developed the site structure and core features based on the needs that emerged through research, including a dashboard, weekly curriculum view, lesson planning system, and resource organization tools.
I started by creating low-fidelity wireframes in Figma to establish layout hierarchy, navigation, and usability before moving into high-fidelity design exploration. During the visual design phase, I focused on balancing structure and functionality with a playful, welcoming aesthetic appropriate for a preschool environment. Soft colors, rounded components, card-based layouts, and clear typography were used to create an interface that feels both approachable and easy to navigate.
Throughout the process, I also built a consistent design system using reusable components and interactive prototypes to simulate a real user experience. The final outcome is a streamlined curriculum planning platform designed specifically for the needs of Summit Preschool’s teachers and classrooms.
